Mission Grants on the ballet

              Summaries of Proposed 2022-2024 Mission Grants

                                   (Each delegate will vote for only 10)

_____1. $8000 Retreat Scholarship for In-Crisis Professional Church Workers                 

Grant would fund 2 “in crisis” participants (church workers and spouse) for 7-day experience of healing and retreat at Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat.

_____2. $9000 Camp Luther His Kids Volunteer and Scholarships                                                                     

Grant will assist in making camp affordable for all His kid’s campers and assist in expanding their volunteer network to serve more campers.  (Off site costs of volunteers and marketing to build program.)

_____3.  $7500 New Shepherds for South Sudan- Lutheran Heritage Foundation                                          

Grant would fund 2 Seminarians’ 1 year’s tuition, room and board and supplies at the Concordia Lutheran Institute for the Holy Ministry.  CLIHM assisted by LHF train Seminarians in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Sudan.

_____4.  $5000 Hope for the Hopeless-LCMS Office of National Mission                                           

Grant would provide funding for curriculum and resources specifically developed to provide Christian response to mental illness (suicide prevention) with an emphasis on the Gospel.  Resources will be available to church workers and lay leaders.

_____5.  $10,000 Common Threads Ministry (Messiah Lutheran, Lincoln NE)                                                

Grants funds a sewing ministry which demonstrates Christs Love by volunteering time and talents to produce reusable “feminine care kits” for girls and women all over the world.  Funds purchase fabric, sewing materials, accessories, and resources to make and assemble care kits.

_____6.  $5000 Chinese Lutheran Service Books-LCMS Office of International Mission                            

Grant would support publishing 5,000 copies of the Chinese Lutheran Service Book in the Mandarin language.

_____7.  $5000 Adopt an Orphanage-Orphan Grain Train                                                                    

Grant would help the purchase hygienic products, vitamins, and medicines for children in Russian/Baltic States Orphanages.

_____8.  $5000 Marriage Retreat for Nebraska District Church Workers- NE district LCMS                  

Grant would help the Nebraska District fund attendance at 2–3-day retreats and counseling for church workers and spouses to focus on strengthening them in their marriage, parenting and their discipleship. 

_____9.  $10,000 Chancel Furnishings for University Chapel-Nebraska District                 

Grant requests funding for finishing projects (Wall Cross and chancel furnishings) for recently renovated chapel on the LCMS campus @ UNL.

 

_____10. $10,000 Siouxland Lutheran Hispanic Ministry-Hope Lutheran Church              

Grant will help fund Nebraska District, Iowa District and Mission Central missionary Pastor Paul Flo called to Hope Lutheran Church and local Hispanic population in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

_____11.  $3500 Emergency Medical Kits-Most Ministries 2023-2024 Mission teams                

Grant would provide 10 medical kits supporting emergency medical teams serve throughout the world.  Each kit contains touchless thermometers, blood pressure cuffs and PPE supplies as well as basic first aid supplies.

_____12.  $10,000 Orphan Grain Train Central Nebraska shipping Baltic Countries

Grant would help fund shipments made in connection with Adopt-an-Orphanage program. Shipment distributes items shipped along with children’s Bibles and other gospel literature.

_____13.  $5000 Gospel Outreach to International Students, Lutheran Chapel- Lincoln NE                       

Grants helps the Lutheran Chapel reach out to international students (China, Iran, Pakistan and Bangladesh) free moving help, connection meals and placing the gospel message in their native language.

_____14.  $5000 Missionary to Latin America-Johanna Heidorn (St. Peter’s Lutheran Davenport)    

Grant helps Missionary Johanna Heidorn serves as a photographer and communication outreach specialist in Latin America & Caribbean region.  Her work documents visual stories that educate and promote Christ’s work.

_____15.  $6000 Comprehensive Efforts to Address the LCMS Pastor Shortage Concordia St. Louis       

Grant helps fund Concordia Seminary strategic priority for student recruitment and enrollment through specific initiatives, campus visit and recruitment efforts software.

_____16. $32,000 LCMS Church Worker Student Scholarships (2 years)                                                          

Grant supports future LCMS pastors and church workers enrolled in our LCMS Synodical colleges and seminaries with scholarships for tuition assistance.

_____17. $5000 Containers for Haitian Earthquake Response   Ministry in Motion             

Grant assists Ministry in Motion to provide physical and spiritual care to survivors of 2021 Haitian earthquake.   MIM will partner with local Lutheran congregations to purchase supplies and pay for shipping containers filled with donation form Orphan Grain Train, Med Wish and others organizations.

_____18. $10,000 Spanish Braille Bibles to Central and South America-Lutheran Braille Workers

Grant would help purchase resources to produce 2000 volumes of Spanish Braille Bibles to be distributed throughout Central and South America.

 

 

_____19.  $3000 Food & Clothing Co-op @ Concordia Theological Seminary Ft. Wayne, IN                       

Grant helps with the purchase of perishable items for Food and Clothing Bank available for Seminary Students.  Food and clothing Bank provides clothing, household items and up to 85% of groceries at no monetary cost to students.

_____1.  $3000 Kruse Memorial Chapel Transformation @ Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch                 

Grant will be used toward a project to transform the Kruse Memorial chapel.  Monetary donations will go toward LED lighting fixtures and learning accessories to enhance the environment and reduce cost.

_____2.  $1500 Jesus Our Savior Lutheran Preschool Winnebago, NE -CPH Books                                          

Grant will be used to purchase CPH books for each preschooler enrolled.  Story books would reinforce the stories and Bible teachings taught in preschool.
