Article about the 2024 Spring Workshop -
The Deshler Zone Spring Workshop was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury on
Saturday, April 13 th . The theme was “Our Future Hope” based on Proverbs 23:18. Opening
devotions were led by Pastor Glen Emery, pastoral counselor, and pastor of Grace Lutheran. He
then led the Bible study based on the hymn “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less.” Christian Life
Chairman, Vickie Emery explained the Servant activities which included making care cards,
organizing, and assembling Shelter Welcome Kits and boxing shelter kits/ingathering items for
Hope Crisis Center. Following this, Carolyn Meyer of Centennial, Superior read and explained
proposed by-law changes and the pledge was recited. District President, Sherry Burger, shared
information concerning the upcoming District Convention and encouraged the ladies to
volunteer at the 2025 National Convention. With each LWML group contributing supplies, the
ingathering included $893 in donations from Grace Lutheran congregation, $800 in gift cards,
and enough items to assemble 66 Shelter Welcome Kits. There were also other donated items
gathered to send to the area Hope Crisis Centers. The zone treasury offering of $350.46 will be
used to cover the zone delegate convention expenses. The closing devotion and prayer were
led by Donna Meyer, Assistant Christian Life.
